SAFE BURNING OF CANDLES

The Safety Guide only takes a moment to read, but is of great value. In order for you to know how to burn a candle safely, we are safety instructions on the products as appropriate pictograms. Unfortunately, without following simple safety rules, burning candles can have unfortunate consequences, and in the worst case, it can end in a fire.

The flame is small, but it can cause a lot of trouble. To prevent an accident, always make sure that the candle is extinguished when you leave the house or when you go to sleep.

Children and pets can run around the candle without realizing the danger. Pets’ fur and children’s hair can easily catch fire unintentionally.

Pay attention to the surroundings of the candle. The area around the candle must be empty. A candle flame can very easily ignite nearby objects. The minimum distance from other objects should be at least 30 cm and from other candles at least 10 cm.

Place the candle on a heat-resistant base. Make sure the candle can’t fall off the fireproof base. Stone and glass bases are suitable. A burning candle without a heat-resistant base can ruin your furniture.

Allow time to burn the candle, because every candle has a memory. If you extinguish the candle before the entire surface melts, the candle remembers it and will only burn to that extent in the future.

Too high a flame can cause soot. Extinguish the candle, cut the wick shorter and, if desired, light the candle again.

If pieces of burnt wick get into the candle wax, extinguish the candle and remove the pieces with a sharp object.

Be sure not to throw matches (even burnt matches) into the candle wax, as the matches may re-ignite in the candle.

That way, you won’t blow the liquid wax around or smear the area around the candle.

To be safe, extinguish the candle when 2 cm remains unburnt. When the last end burns, the candle glass gets too hot and can break.

Clean the candle glass with warm water and dish soap. Soy wax is water soluble and does not cause clogging. Pour a new candle into the candle glass or prefer convenience and fill it with powdered candle instead. You can also find use in another way – turn a candlestick into a pencil cup, flower pot or spice jar. You can find ideas for recycling in our candle glass recycling blog post.
